°ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ

As a major European ‘umbrella’ organization, °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ is nurturing various collaborations with other organizations in Europe and worldwide in order to advance research and teaching of molecular life sciences.

Europe

Naturally, °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ collaborates with its Constituent Societies in support for molecular life science meetings across Europe and neighbouring regions (e.g. °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ Congress, °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ education workshops, °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ National Lectures, °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ3+ Meetings) as well as through providing extensive support for members of the Constituent Societies, particularly early-career scientists.  With the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ funds certain joint Advanced Courses and the °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ | EMBO Women in Science Award. °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ is a member of the BioMed Alliance, whose goals include advancing biomedical research in Europe.

Worldwide

Molecular life science research is a global activity. Journals from °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ publish papers from researchers working across the world, often with collaboration between scientists in different countries and continents. The °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ Congress and Advanced Courses programme attract participants from well beyond the European °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ region. With these global considerations in mind, °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ has long held close ties with the International Union for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB), of which °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ is the European regional member, and is also developing links with learned societies in the molecular life sciences in regions with emerging interest, investment and output in this area of research.

With the IUBMB, °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ arranges reciprocal Congress lectures, welcomes IUBMB-sponsored speakers and IUBMB-supported transcontinental Youth Travel Fund awardees at its Advanced Courses, and holds joint Congresses or conferences, such as the 2022 IUBMB–°ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ–PABMB Congress in Lisbon and the °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ-IUBMB-ENABLE conference series for early-career researchers. A new cooperation with IUBMB and the Federation of African Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (FASBMB), starting 2023, is a programme of PROBio-Africa Fellowships to support research stays of PhD students and early-career researchers from Africa in labs of °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ members in the °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ area.

°ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ-sponsored lectures or symposia are also organized in meetings of other IUBMB regional organizations such as the Pan-American Association for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (PABMB) and the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB). In addition, °ÄÃÅÕý°æ´óÈ«Ãâ·Ñ×ÊÁÏ has promoted contacts with Societies in parts of the world that have growing communities in the molecular life science such as in Brazil (SBBq), China (CSCB) and India (SBCI) by funding transcontinental travel of distinguished speakers at certain large scientific meetings.
